*AFSCME DAY at
PHILABUNDANCE*
Canned
lima beans, dry pasta and soup were among the many choices
Cathy Scott, President of AFSCME District Council 47 had
early Saturday morning. Scott and her team of 30 AFSCME
members, family, friends and students from Drexel University
worked hard in North Philadelphia to sort the latest Philabundance
food donations from local retailers. “We have supported
Philabundance for five or six years now, and with these
difficult times, their services are more important then
ever before to the citizens of Philadelphia”, said
Scott. Philabundance is a non-profit organization that provides
the homeless and unemployed with the food they need to survive,
including emergency food packs that can feed a family of
four for an entire weekend. “We are a union made up
of residents of the city of Philadelphia; this is the least
we can do to help support the city we all love", said
Marguerite Morgan, District Council 47 executive board member.
Philabundance is always looking for volunteers to help them
assist those among us who are most in need, especially in
this time of great need. If you, your organization or your
company are interested in helping Philabundance, please
visit their website, www.philabundance.com.
