Recreation Department Health & Safety Meeting
Thursday, February 26, 2009 – 2:00 p.m.

AGENDA

1. Review and approval of minutes from January 22, 2009 meeting.

2. Update on upcoming retirements in the department.

3. Update on status of private fundraising for swimming pools, summer 2009

4. Update from Michael Johnson regarding work order processing.

5. Right to Know training. Regarding our discussion last month about chemicals in use at the pools, we want to make sure the required annual RtK trainings are being provided.

6. Also, regarding the pools, we would like to discuss having the DPH do pre-opening inspections of water and facilities, and also arrange for all equipment to be checked prior to pool openings this summer. We also are requesting that employees be provided with preventive maintenance and aquatics training, not just be given a manual to follow. Additional concerns about pool openings that require discussion: lifeguards, PMAs and security. How many lifeguards will be assigned to pools, what are the pool capacity numbers, what will summer pool hours be and how will those hours be covered.

7. Update on quarterly meetings with police hierarchy.

8. Further discussion on ice and snow removal at facilities.

9. Update on facility and handicapped signage.

10. We would like to have our committee issue a request to the Workplace Violence Committee that they re-establish the Rapid Response Team that functioned well in the department in the past.

11. AED update. Are new AEDs being added? Who performs the maintenance on the units?
